Address
Got my address in Japan! The place I’m staying at might already have internet. There’s like a 60% chance lol. Not too concerned about it, but it would be nice not to have to wait a month or two. And my rent is high enough as it is lol. About 59,000 yen a month. Anyway, I move in next Monday (assuming I pass the test Saturday). We got some preview questions today. My fuck, difficult.

Kani Miso
I decided the other day to try something completely Japanese. Go out on a limb, pick a random item off the English menu that simply said “Famous crab dish native to Japan” or something. Kanimiso.
It came on a leaf, and was a greenish grey paste. I had to try it, I ordered it. It was EXTREMELY fishy, like… woa. But hey, I can say I’ve tried it. Now, here’s what it...

Quick! Hayaku!
So this needs to be fast, as my schedule is all alkjghsdgfuaisl now. I have finished 2 demo lessons, which was acting out an abbreviated lesson plan for different levels in front of my fellow trainees. Today, I FINALLY got to visit a classroom (in Toyota-shi)! I watched 3 lessons - 6ish yr olds, 9ish year olds, and 14ish year olds. Tomorrow I teach my first lesson to actual kids - 5ish year olds....
chibi-tard-chan asked: So it went to +7 and all the snow is gone now. What the actual fuck.

Accents
I’d say a good 80% of the people that have arrived so far, that I am teaching with, are some form of British. This has had an odd effect on me, as 90% of the English I hear is in a British accent. I have caught myself beginning to think in a British accent. It’s quite weird.

Blood Types
So in Japan, as in some other Asian countries, there is the belief that your blood type can tell others about your personality. This belief is so strong that many employers still ask for blood type on application forms, and matchmaking services use it as a point of harmony. However, the idea that the proteins in your blood have any effect on your personality traits was disregarded as having any...

Well, this is it!
This is probably my last “in person” post for awhile. My flight leaves at 9:25 tomorrow, and I have a layover in Detroit. So it’s possible you’ll hear from me again, but I have my doubts. ;p
I’ll update once I find some internet in Nagoya. Yes, I will be trolling the streets for an internet cafe— Though I am poor, so don’t expect much with those damn...

cuethetumblweed replied to your post: I am looking for meaning in my life.
Do you think this might change when you go to Japan? I think you came to a good conclusion. As long as you view emptiness as a way to be filled. Good luck (:
I don’t know that I expect anything to change, but I think that I will have a lot more opportunities to connect with nature and with the world around me....
