Ta-Nehisi Coates. (via liberalsarecool)
This is actually true, and springs from failure to distinguish general dickishness (such as name-calling and self-righteous finger pointing) from actions that disadvantage members of a particular group in objective, concrete ways. If someone’s feelings get hurt by a person of a different race, that’s dickishness. If members of one race are disproportionately likely to be killed by police, convicted of crimes, offered a substandard mortgage, etc — THAT is racism.
